FAQ

Is This Safe For My Baby?

Ultrasounds are radiation FREE and are entirely safe. Images are obtained by using sound waves emitted by a transducer. Alyssa is a registered diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS), ensuring a safe and reliable ultrasound experience.

Are Baby Print Co. ultrasounds covered by my insurance?

No.  This is an elective ultrasound and therefore not covered by insurance.

Can Baby Print Co. ultrasounds take the place of a diagnostic ultrasound from my doctor’s office?

No. This is an elective ultrasound service, ideal for additional bonding with baby. Our services are for women who are already receiving prenatal care. This includes a medical diagnostic ultrasound prescribed by their healthcare provider to confirm their due date, screen for fetal anomalies, and to diagnose any other pregnancy related issues.

Why do you not offer heartbeat checks before 15 weeks?

During the first trimester, it is not recommended to perform pulse doppler (this is how we listen to baby’s heartbeat). Any clinics offering heartbeat checks during the first trimester could be putting baby at risk. This is another reason to be scanned by a trusted, registered sonographer.

What do I need to do to prepare for my ultrasound appointment?

Check out our HOW IT WORKS section. Be sure to stay hydrated the ENTIRE week leading up to your appointment by drinking a minimum of 64 ounces of water per day. This helps to ensure appropriate fluid levels for ideal baby imaging.

Do I need to provide anything for the appointment?

During your visit we will need access to a resting place for mom close to a TV. We will be connecting the imaging machine via HDMI for live viewing. If you have any questions about your current set up, lets talk!

Can you guarantee we will get good images of baby?

We are trained to get the best image possible, but many factors out of our control play a role in image quality. These factors include:

- baby’s position

- amniotic fluid levels

- umbilical cord position

- maternal body type
- baby activity/sleeping

Can I have friends and family at my appointment?

Yes! Currently there is no limit on the amount of guests present for your ultrasound- invite everyone!

When is the optimal time to see baby with 3D/4D imaging?

We offer ultrasounds starting at 15 weeks, but the ideal timeframe for performing 3D/4D ultrasounds is the 28th through the 32nd week.
